THREE BLIND MICE

Three young Navy officers hit Sydney for one last night on land before being shipped over to the Gulf to fight. Sam (Ewen Leslie) has been mistreated at sea and is going AWOL, Dean (Toby Schmitz) has a fiancé (Pia Miranda) and the future in-laws to meet, and Harry (Mathew Newton) just loves playing cards. Throughout the night the boys lose each other, find themselves, and along the way discover courage, friendship and redemption. Funny yet psychological drama where the narrative is told through multiple viewpoints. Three Blind Mice also features the music of Wes Carr.
“Three Blind Mice is an anti-war film, unashamedly about people not politics,” said Matthew Newton. “I wanted to make a film that shows three young men doing what our male youth do as an alternative to killing and being killed. The boys meet potential partners, they get into trouble on their own terms and they deal with the complex question of what it is to be a man. It leads by example and doesn’t offer any simple solutions.”

PARFUM DE REGRETS

This film was shot at the very cool Hotel du Ministere which is five minutes from the Champs Elysee. The new contemporary design created by Francois Champsaur is super stylish and Inspired by his design, I created a scenario about a young woman revisiting the hotel where she met her lover, but who has since died. A colleague, French director Diasteme, wrote a poem Vue D’Une Blonde which I used as a voice-over narrative for the film and Julien Honore, one of France’s hottest young film actors – and brother to the supremely talented Christophe Honore – agreed to play The Lover opposite me as The Blonde. The result is a beautiful and painful homage to love lost, and a short film of which I am very proud!
